Jim Radford (1928 - 2020) British singer of shanties, sea-songs, folk and peace protester. Jim Radford is the youngest known participant in the 2nd World War allied invasion of Normandy 1944. An experience that inspired his song "The Shores of Normandy” performed and televised by BBC at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the 70th anniversary year of the invasion (2014). He believes that war was necessary because we would have been invaded otherwise. However he objects to the unnecessary wars like Vietnam which he went to prison for protesting non-violently against. He also apposes the recent unnecessary wars against Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries that are not going to invade Britain. Jim Radford is still active both as a folk singer and also as a campaigner for peace and other related issues. Jim Radford is a member of Veterans For Peace, leaving at meeting.
