HUGH CURRY one of the innovators of Canadian free-form at CHUM FM radio station. Hugh Curry says “Free-form where we played everything - rock, jazz, classical, world, etc.” After CHUM-FM, Curry was contracted by CBC TV to go to London in 1968/9 to interview the leading British musicians for the show called "Through the Eyes of Tomorrow." He came back with an impressive catch of filmed interviews, including Eric Clapton (CREAM), Jimi Hendrix, Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, (Jimi Hendrix Experience), Charlie Watts (Rolling Stones), Robin Trower (Procol Harum), Chris Wood, Jim Capaldi (Traffic), George Martin (Beatles producer), Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones producer at the time), John Lennon and Yoko Ono and other legendary musicians. On returning to Toronto Curry became involved in concert promotion with Brower-Walker Enterprises, who were producing the Toronto Pop Festival and Toronto Rock 'N' Roll Revival. Hugh Curry’s career also branched into acting including roles in films, notably his critically acclaimed performance as a Nashville record executive in the Canadian film, "The Hard Part Begins”. Curry also had involvement in a bio documentary about Bob Guccione the founder of Penthouse magazine, photographer and painter. Curry has been involved with other other film work.
