Kate Hudson says: "The plight of Shaker Aamer is a tragic consequence of the discredited 'war on terror.' There is no evidence against Mr Aamer - our government has said he should be released. His continued imprisonment is the cause of great suffering not only for him but his family. Every conceivable effort must now be made by the government to ensure his release."
Yvonne Ridley interviews Kate Hudson CND chairperson after her participation in a delegation for the Save Shaker Aamer Campaign (SSAC) has joined in handing an open letter to Prime Ministers Gordon Brown 10 Downing Street just a few weeks before his election day. The letter appeals for Shaker Aamer to be returned to his home and family in the UK. Shaker Aamer is the last Londoner detained in the controversial Guantánamo Bay detention camp over eight years with out charge or trail and victim of torturer, who has previously been cleared for release in 2007 but inexplicably he has not been freed.
