The Portobello market was closing down ever so slowly in the early evening, the shops likewise shutting down for business. Then I noticed this foot sticking outside the shop's doorway but at the same time leaving the rest of the body inside. Was the foot hot and needed to cool down! I will probably never know the answer to that question. This photograph titled ‘the loneliness of the foot’ is dedicated to the American artist Edward Hopper! Notting Hill Gate, London, (in a parallel Universe New York 1930ish), 1 Feb 2025 PS: A further thought my theory is the person was smoking a cigaret and these days it is necessary to smoke outdoors! So he put his foot outside so he could be outside without getting cold!
