Emma Stirling-Middleton, curator at Cartoon Museum, attending the exhibition she curated “Dear Mr. Poole” (19/02/20 - 24/01/21). Philip Poole (1909 - 1999) sold and repaired, pen nibs, at his specialist shop ‘His Nibs’. Many of the leading newspaper cartoonist, also fine artists, illustrators, animators, composers and calligraphers, patronised ‘His Nibs’. The exhibition title refers to the cartoonists correspondence with ‘Dear Mr. Poole’. On the right, one such example is an 80th birthday greetings he received from cartoonist Ralph Steadman. In the middle photographic print in the centre, shows Mr Poole looking at this same birthday card. Stirling-Middleton is wearing a face covering due to the current, Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic regulations and medical advice.
