This is the remains of a prehistoric tree, revealed by an especially low tide on Pett Level Beach, from a normally submerged prehistoric forest about 6,000 years old, when the sea level was lower and further back. It’s a hazardous beach ground for walking on at low tide, with slippery sand banks and sinking sediments in places. Pett Level, East Sussex, UK, 23/09/2019
