When, Derek Jarman's (1942 – 1994) the avant-garde film-maker, writer and painter, was diagnosed with AIDS, he moved to a fisherman's cottage in Dungeness, where he lived for the last nine years of his life. Dungeness is a shingle landscape that is bleakly beautiful, in the far background to the right of the cottage on the left, can just be seen a corner of, Dungeness nuclear power station, that is not to everybody's taste.
