Fremont Troll

Fremont Troll, a sculpture by Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter, and Ross Whitehead, commissioned by the Fremont Arts Council in 1990. The troll under a bridge is inspired from Norwegian folklore. N. 36th Street at Troll Avenue N, (under the north end of the Aurora Bridge), Fremont, Seattle, WA, USA, 27 May 2018
.
The troll under a bridge looks like it might have escaped from an animated cartoon film!
.
Fremont Arts Council held an art competition in 1990. The aim in part was to restore a gloomy area under a bridge, which was being used for dumping rubbish illicitly and a place for shady characters. The troll won the competition as it were. And the troll is doing a fine job keeping an eye on the place, acting as a deterrent and it’s art. Could it be that shady characters do not like trolls or perhaps having lots of tourists turning up continuously taking snaps might be a turn-off for their dealings! Whatever it is, it is entertaining a lot of kids and families.
