Tour Rivalland, (Rivalland Tower) completed in 1881, built by Gustave Rivalland (1824-1881), former French naval officer, and Orientalist. The construction is before its times in early use of modern concrete. Toped by a recent Faraday cage lightning conductor. The tower is ornamented with symbolic decorations. The construction 25 meters tall, it is on the high ground of the town making it the highest building in the area. It has been suggested that Rivalland was competing, on behalf of science, with the next highest building the Notre-Dame church, whose steeple in the far distance comes up to just under half way of the tree on the left.
