THEREMIN
The theremin is a pioneering electronic musical instrument, patented in 1928 by its Russian inventor Professor Léon Theremin, it is played with out physical contact from the player.
The ultimate tribute to Theremin Music was perhaps astronaut Neil Armstrong taking his favourite selected recordings of it, for easy listening on his trip to the moon (1969).
Theremin music has been used in many sci-fi movies, especially in the 50s, creating the strange spacey atmosphere, and indeed in other types of feature films including Alfred Hitchcock's "Spellbound" (1945); Cecil B. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments (1956) and many other examples, also in TV and radio productions.
Theremin has been played by a number of popular musicians including Jimmy Page in Led Zeppelin, Brian Jones in Rolling Stones, Lydia Kavina grand-daughter of Léon Theremin's first cousin, and other musicians.
LEON THEREMIN
Léon Theremin (1896 - 1993) Russian inventor of the first electronic musical instrument the theremin also invented interlace the technique of doubling the perceived frame rate on analog television. Another of his inventions was 'The Thing' an early espionage eavesdropping devise.
