Uli Meyer

Uli Meyer artist, cartoonist and author, working on his children's picture book, CUTHBERT WAS BORED. The illustrated book is a story about a crow called Cuthbert and the young crow's journey of self discovery. The illustrations are hand drawn and painted in ink and water colour by the artist Uli Meyer.

One of the inspirations for Uli Meyer was engendered when getting to know his friend the cartoonist Ronald Searle in France and studying his work. "Ronald Searle's drawing have something to say". Another but dissimilar starting point influence was film director Alfred Hitchcock. "This is how the idea for Cuthbert came about. I imagined a little crow who found out that he had a great, great grandfather who was an extra on Hitchcock's THE BIRDS."
The author illustrator, animator and filmmaker Uli Meyer moved to London from Germany in 1986. He worked as one of the youngest cartoon animators on Dick Williams "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" a Walt Disney production; followed by work for other London cartoon animation studios, including working as a supervising animator and character designer for, Amblimation (now Dream Works Animation).

In 1991 he set up his own London animation studio, ULI MEYER ANIMATION STUDIOS which has worked on productions for, Twentieth Century Fox; Disney; Warner Bros; on feature films and television series, also for many leading advertising agencies, on television commercials. Despite his prestigious work in film, design, animation, and the highest regard for his draftsmanship being held by industry experts, Meyer's has described him self disarmingly as a doodler.
