Maria Gallastegui, takes a petition to the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, 10 Downing Street, on the 29th day of her hunger strike, she has she been taking only liquids, she is protesting against the inhumane situation in Gaza. The petition says: Boycott Israeli Goods now. Maria Gallastegui is founder of the Peace Strike; she has been on continuous protest, living in a tent supporting Brian Haw in Parliament Square for almost three years. 10 Downing Street, London, UK, 9 February 2009

Maria Gallastegui became involved in peace work at Parliament Square from March 2002 and has been resident there since May 2006. In recent years Gallastegui established the “Peace Strike” which is an authorised 24-hour ongoing campaign operating from Parliament Square. The Square is Maria Gallastegui official residence and home her tent, where she is registered on the Westminster City Council electoral roll. Maria Gallastegui has four permanent static displays on or near the pavement as part of her peace campaign.
